Start by making sure you stay organized; check the wedding website for a detailed itinerary and any other information you need to know to stay on top of the proceedings. The last thing you want to do is text the couple that morning for directions. Know the dress code and make sure you dress to dance the night away!
Be on time
It goes without saying that being punctual for the wedding is essential/mandatory/please please please be on time. Arriving fashionably late is NEVER an acceptable thing to do at a wedding, and it’s likely to cause disruption. If you’re running late, wait. Just don't be late. And even WORSE - don't RSVP to a wedding and not show up. The couple has PREPAID and confirmed your meal and all the little extras. Not cool.
Stay off your phone
Put your phone away when requested. On the day of the wedding, your primary focus should be interacting with other guests, celebrating with the couple, and taking pictures with them. Additionally, the couple may have requested there be no phones during the ceremony, so it’s important to adhere to this rule. Trust me. The photographer will snap a picture of you leaning out into the aisle with your phone and ruining their photo. You WILL be caught. You're not that stealthy.
Be a good sport
In some cases, couples may want their wedding guests to get involved in various activities. Whether it’s a dance-off, a game of charades, or a scavenger hunt, it’s important to participate and be a good sport. It’s the couple’s special day and they want everyone to have fun and make the most of it.
Take photos
Taking photos is another way to snag your best wedding guest award. The couple will likely have hired a professional photographer, but it’s nice for them to have some personal photos from the day as well. Ask the couple if they don’t mind if you take some photos and ensure you’re not in their way (or in the way of the photographer). This doesn't mean following the photographer around, it means grabbing some pics where the photographer isn't.
